01Context

Educational hoverboards are used to teach students the basics of balance control, sensors, and embedded systems. HoverDR1 added an audio-reactive module to that platform: the board listens to sound and responds to it, which gives students a visible, immediate result from signal processing that would otherwise stay on a screen.

[One paragraph on who the project was for and what constraint mattered most. Sponsor requirements, budget, or a deadline. Two or three sentences is enough.]

02What we built

[Describe the module: microphone and input stage, the processor or microcontroller, how audio was analyzed, and what the output was. Name the parts. A reader with an engineering background should be able to picture the block diagram from this paragraph.]

Figure 1. Signal path from microphone to output. Replace with the diagram from the Expo poster.

[One paragraph on the part you personally owned, and one decision you made that you would defend today.]

03Funding and marketing

The team ran Kickstarter campaigns alongside the engineering and raised more than $1,500. Convincing people outside the university to fund a student project meant explaining the idea in plain terms, producing something that looked finished before it was, and answering backer questions quickly. That turned out to be a rehearsal for consulting.

[Number of backers, what rewards were offered, and what the money bought, if you want to be specific.]

04Result

HoverDR1 won Best in Show at the 2023 UTDesign Senior Design Expo. [One or two sentences on what the judges responded to, if you remember, and how the demo went.]

05What I would change

[The honest paragraph. What broke late, what you would design differently, and what you would test earlier. This is the section people actually read.]
